“Superbloom” 2019

Inspired by the extraordinary Wildflower bloom happening all along the California Coast this spring. In this painting, I tried to capture the exuberance and abundance of the flowers with the coastal landscape environment as a backdrop, suggested by the brushstrokes illustrating the green hills, sandy earth, and blue ocean. Californians know that there is a moment that is the height of the spring bloom - a crescendo - that happens once a year. I wanted to preserve the feeling of this experience to enjoy all year long, in my painting.
